Have you ever offered your seat to the elders, or people who need them when you're in buses or trains? We are supposed to do it, right? What if we didn't? I'll feel guilty if I don't, so whenever I see anyone who needs the seat, I'll offer it to them. But there are times when I do not do so. It's not like I discriminate them, but there are some instances, which just happened so.
For example, some Malay women wear baju kurung, and it's hard to tell whether they're pregnant or they're simply fat! If they're pregnant, of course I should offer them my seat, but if they're not, they would burn more calories while standing, so in a way, I'm helping them right?
Also, I sit public transport alone most of the time, and I try not to make eye contact with anyone, because I think it's rude to just stare at people, and embarrassing too when they catch you looking at them. So I stare at the floor and all I see are people's shoes and legs. I cannot tell their age or disability(s) judging from the shoe they wear right. When I get off the train only I realize the person standing next to me was an elderly.
What is your definition for elderly? People with wrinkled skin? Hunchbacks? People who look like they're sick? Over 50? What about people who are 50 but look like they're in their late 30s? I've seen OLs (office ladies), or in this case, OAs (office aunties), who look very fit and healthy. They can stand straighter than me while wearing their heels, and one hand holding on to the supporter while the other hand is preoccupied with a storybook. I don't think they need the seat right, although their skin is wrinkled and all that.
Sometimes I spot a pregnant women standing near the train doors, but it was too far away from me. I get up, walk towards her, and when I reach her, some imbecile has taken up my place.
Then there are cases where they don't want your seat. It's like they're trying to defy their age or trying to act cool while standing. Since I offered the seat, it would be paiseh if I sat back down, since I don't know if the fella seriously does not want to sit, or he's just trying to see if I was sincere in offering him the seat, or maybe he's paiseh to take the seat. So we both would stand beside the empty seat awkwardly, until someone comes along and take it up.
So, what's your story? Or do you even have one? I'm guessing some of you who read this do not take public transport, or do not care to bother.

this sucks!
I am thoroughly utterly disappointed with our Malaysian police. I passed by one of the police dorms this morning, and I saw open burning (not sure - in BM it's called pembakaran terbuka). It's illegal right? Even if it's not IT SHOULD BE MADE ILLEGAL!
And the worst part? The open burning was inside a secluded (well not so secluded since I saw it) corner of the police dorm. INSIDE THE POLICE DORM! Policemen lives there and they burn rubbish just like that! The police station was just beside the dorm you know.
So much for saving the environment. This is not the first time I've seen it happening in that particular police dorm. The first time, maybe a month ago - the fire was really HUGE and I still remember the uncle standing over to "guard" the fire. He was fat and short. Wearing a hat, maybe scared of people like me that will recognize him and put him into jail. The second time - today, don't see any fire, but I can still see smoke coming from the same corner.
The leaves from the tree above it are all dead and withered. And the metal fence (pagar) had turned all black from the smoke. I remember seeing ashes flying around. Eurgh. So dirty.
Too bad I did not take a picture, but even if I did, the picture would not show the police station's sign anyway, because it has been strategically located far away from the open burning corner. Har, they have brains to save their own asses at least.
By the way, the police station I'm talking about is in Ampang. The one near the LRT station. GRRR I am so mad! Nevermind I will try to take a picture of it tomorrow!

Shoot. I just found out the statistics from Jeff Ooi's blog
"This means since Abdullah Badawi became an elected Prime Minister in 2004, petrol has gone up by 97.1%, while diesel increased by a whopping 231%."
DAMN. this is seriously serious.

Petrol price increment. AGAIN. Now diesel is almost the same price as petrol ._. For people like me who are used to taking trains, banzai! Save the environment la, and take public transport instead. I know Malaysian public transport sucks most of the time, but what to do? Food, petrol, electricity price are all increasing. Wonder when will it be water's turn. The only thing which has not increased are the salaries of us poor citizens ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Anyway, did my part in being environment-friendly today. I got back home by bus *applauds* It's been ages since I took bus from college back home okay?! I thought the bus driver wanted to kidnap me you know, since there were new roads introduced and I couldn't recognize where I was. Luckily I got back home safely. I need to take the bus more often in order not to feel so kampung.
Found a recipe on cookie baking yesterday. Seems easy enough =) Went to buy the ingredients and couldn't find self-raising flour. I thought they come in plastic packs, so I called up Carmen to inquire more. And then only found out it was right in front of me, in boxes ._. I need to open my eyes bigger and look around next time.
Goes off to make cookies now! *cross fingers for luck*
P/S: Kenneth complained my font is too small =( Small meh?
Edit - 9.45pm
My cookies turned out in extra large sizes O__o" Had no idea they would expand/spread that much. Should've shaped them using teaspoon HEH. But they're delicious, and that is what matters most =)
I wanna make ddeokbokki next time!

A prayer for those in need
I feel guilty and selfish. So many people are suffering over in Myanmar and Szechuan and all I can think about is how much I miss FT Island. And spazzing over their new song on soompi =(
It's really heart-wrenching to see the state of devastation the place is in. I was sitting on the sofa, eating peanuts while watching TV yesterday, and I was complaining of how hot the weather are these days and also how tasteless the peanuts were. Shame on me! I should think about those unfortunate people, and appreciate my lunch(although the ikan bilis is a little too hard for me).

I find the world really amazing in times like these. When we are living without any disasters, and we pass by acquaintances, we couldn't even bother to smile or greet them sometimes. And look at what happens in China now. Strangers everywhere are helping each other out. Everyone around the world is helping those victims whom they have never seen before.
Sometimes, I wonder if disasters like these are curse or blessings? Sure, it's a sad thing to see innocent people dying and suffering, but seeing it from another point of view, if it were not for this, would we ever witness people helping each other so selflessly? Especially in our modern times?
